I learned that sound is an extremely important aspect in production, whether it’s the use or the absence of sound. The first sound project was where we had to create a story using little to no words and sound without any visuals. The second project was where we created a soundscape for our OWF video, which originally had no sound during filming.
In sound project 1, me and my partner created a story of a man working in a police station getting struck by lightning during a thunderstorm. During brainstorming, me and my partner exchanged ideas of how our story should sound from beginning to end, and what small details we were going to include to make the story interesting. Our outline helped us decide on how the sounds were going to flow from scene to scene, and create a realistic time frame and environment where the story takes place. We used clipchamp and one thing we completed well was the layering of many different sounds, and using many sounds that mesh well together to create realism. One thing I think we could improve on is the actual storyline itself, and the time frame it happens in. AwadallaSuarez_soundscape_per4.m4a
In sound project 2 I used foley and downloaded sounds to create my soundscape. During brainstorming me and my partner talked about the different sounds we would use, and what the specific sounds you wouldn’t hear unless you were listening out for it in a real life situation. The outline helped us organize the timing and layering of every sound we each wanted to use in the final product. I used clipchamp and I think my foley sounds were done well, which included a backpack being picked up, footsteps, and notification noises from an actual phone. Something I want to improve on next time is certain sounds I would layer to create sound in a realistically quiet environment. OWFSound_Suarez.mp4
