In my film, I want to integrate the theory of “Escapism” in coming of age films. Escapism in these films is where characters are seen doing things that keep them from worrying about the pressures of growing up, and enjoying adolescence. In my story, the main character Avery, is seen looking overwhelmed and stressed out by her routines and how hard she is working in school while juggling other aspects of life. Her best friend, Isa, is seen looking relaxed and easygoing. Veronica tells Mia about a party they can go to, to take her mind off the stressful things and enjoy herself.
One movie that expresses this theory in a semi-literal way is Bridge to Terabitihia. My story is definitely more literal, but still relates to the theory of escapism.
