Group Meeting #2

Today’s group meeting was pretty productive and fun, and we all received each others feedback and critiques really well. For my CCR, one of my classmates told me that for my CCR, I should do it in a style where it looks like I took a break during filming to answer questions, as if an interviewer is trying to get information out of me right after I just filmed a scene. I liked this idea and I think I am going to use it!

Mise en scene (set design & props)

The setting of this story changes from being in the car, driveway, and house. The lighting in the car is dim and gloomy, and it is a rainy “sad” looking day outside, which kind of represents how Avery is feeling in the moment. In the house, it’s decently dark since the house is “empty”.

The props used in the film are for Avery a backpack, car keys, and a broom.

For Isa, she has a blanket and a bag of chips.

Mise en scene (Avery)

Avery’s costuming is basic, with dark colored clothing, little to no makeup, and a messy 5 second hairstyle to tie it together. Her black sweater and baggy navy sweatpants show that she didn’t spend much time in the morning before school to make sure that she looked amazingly eye catching, since she just wants to get things done. This builds on her character development, as someone who might have her priorities a little too far in one direction.

Character development

Character development is very important in coming of age films, since every teen is different, lead different lives, and come from different backgrounds.

Avery- Avery is a very studios and punctual girl. She enjoys having everything in its place at the right time. However, she tends to overwhelm herself with perfection, and it takes a toll on her. She enjoys having fun, but never puts aside time for herself.

Isa- Isa is laid back and easygoing, doesn’t mind change and gets over complications easily. She likes being out the house and cares more about looking good and enjoying herself than having perfect grades, She is one of the main reasons Avery gets out the house and keeps her on her toes.

Ideas and Major Inspo!

 Welcome back!

My opening is for a coming of age comedy film that is about two very different yet perfectly similar best friends. Avery is a punctual and organized young lady, and Isa is a carefree and easygoing girl. They are navigating through sophomore year together, with bumps along the road, but as long as they have each other, things will be fine. Right?

My major inspiration is my own life, where I am very similar to the character Avery, and I have friends like Isa, who know I deal with a lot at home and between juggling sports and schoolwork, they try to make sure im doing good and I give myself breaks to relax and make sure I am happy and doing well.

finished products!! Film opening Oddly Alike
